Job Description

Student will be working on creating an interactive template for use in Mojave day program, therapy, and case management departments.  The template will facilitate cohesiveness on a client’s PAR to include treatment goals, objectives, treatment methods, and progress measures.  The job would include developing a form that has several drop down boxes that are decision based.  The treatment plan template will allow Mojave staff to first input the type of services being provided (e.g. adult case management, child therapy, adult day program).  After the services type is specified, a drop down box based on this criteria will be available.  The drop down box will consist of criteria based treatment goals that Mojave staff can choose from (e.g. Client will be working to develop anger management skills).  Based on the treatment goals criteria, another drop down menu with relevant objectives will be available (e.g.  Client will identify at least ____ coping strategies to deal with anger and frustration and discuss instances where he/she used these strategies.)  Based on the treatment objectives criteria, another drop down menu will be available with treatment methods (e.g. Client will learn to recognize stressors and how to deal with these stressors to help with anger management.)  The last field will be an open field based on progress measures, in which a Mojave staff member would be able to input their own information.  Each field would, though criteria specific, would be editable so that Mojave staff can input measurable data and other information.  In addition, in each field there would be a space to type in a personalized goal, objective, and treatment methods.  This treatment plan will be developed on a user friendly program, which can be edited at a later date by Mojave staff if necessary.

Vanderbilt University NSF REU program in nanoscience

Uncategorized No Comments »

The Vanderbilt Institute for Nanoscale Science and Engineering (VINSE) will be hosting a National Science Foundation Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) Site in nanoscale materials science and engineering May 30, 2011 to August 5, 2011.  Each student will work directly with VINSE faculty members and their research groups on projects in cutting edge areas of nanoscale science and engineering and have access to the VINSE core laboratories, which are shared facilities available to all authorized users.  Participation in the program will provide students with a true interdisciplinary research experience in an environment where physicists, chemists, biologists, and all engineers collaboratively solve problems and create new scientific understanding.  All REU students will be housed on the Vanderbilt Commons in one of the ten residential halls on the Vanderbilt campus that were built in 2008 to house all first-year students.  The Vanderbilt campus is centrally located, being just one mile from downtown Nashville, which is one of the most vibrant and cosmopolitan mid-sized cities in the United States.

Highlights of the program include:

. Choose from ~ 20 projects available each year for 10 positions,  giving increased flexibility to match student interests.
. Receive a $5000 stipend, room and board, plus a $400 travel allowance to offset the cost of traveling to Nashville.
. Undergo informal training on scientific writing and giving oral presentations .
. Participate in optional outreach opportunities with local high school students.
. Enjoy weekly social activities and a closing banquet.
. Participate in a poster competition to receive a travel award to attend a national professional meeting to present their work.

We would greatly appreciate you bringing this opportunity to the attention of your talented and motivated undergraduate students looking for a summer research position. Students who are US Citizens or Permanent Residents majoring in science or engineering are eligible to apply to the REU program and students from underrepresented groups and institutions are strongly encouraged. Students are to be notified of their acceptance into the program by email by mid-March and  selections will be based primarily on academic standing and faculty recommendations.

The application deadline is February 15, 2012.
