The College of Engineering is looking for up to 93 Engineering Pack Leaders for the summer program described below. Applications due March 1st. Mandatory training is on Friday Aug. 16 and the program starts August 17.

Short for “Engineering-Freshman Intensive Transition,” E-FIT is a week- long academic program (August 17-22) designed to increase success for incoming college students. The program offers a glimpse into the University’s rigorous academic expectations and college life prior to the start of the semester.

Pack Leaders will be responsible for:

• Mentoring the incoming students -help with homework, advise students on being good students, answer questions about student life and what the college has to offer

• Helping students navigate campus -take students to/and attend some study and discipline specific sessions with students, have meals with students

• Running the lab sessions -helping with projects and ensuring safety

• Grading exams and homework assignments

• Interacting with the students and being a good role model

You will be compensated $500 for the 5.5 day period plus 1 day of training with meals included. If you are living in the residence halls, you will be allowed to move into your room early.

 You must be enrolled for the Fall 2019 semester to be considered for this position.

Dr. Faramarz Gordaninejad recently retired from the Mechanical Engineering Department. As part of his legacy, he established the Madani-Gordaninejad Speech Competition in memory of his wife, Azita Madani Gordaninejad.


The subject of the presentation must be innovative and/ or informative and can be technical or non-technical.

Quality abstracts with logical and compelling discussions of a single topic will be selected for the final speech competition.

Abstracts due February 28th by 11:59pm • Finalists will be notified by March 13th
